Winter Olympics Activities – 2018

Just Like all I am expecting Winter Olympics 2018.  The Opening Ceremony is nearing and we as a family are excited to the core. To bring the spirits high we are hearing stories on Olympics from mama and papa. Just to make it more lively we did some crafts and activities.

Olympic Torch

As a start we opened the session with an Olympic Torch

The tradition of Olympic torch is wonderful. I love that moment. Back in my school and college I love the begining part of the sport’s day as the tradition of torch takes place there. I would love to hold the torch in my hands those days. I would look at the person [atheletes] running carrying the torch with pride.
Wanted to bring that feel in my daughter at her early age. So I thought to do the craft with her. Yes! We are making our own torch.

Materials Required

Golden Aluminium foil
Papertowel roll
Glue stick
Tissue paper to give the fire effect red, yellow and orange

1. Make the pawertowel roll or cardboard into a triangle shape such that it gives an effect of the torch.
2. Cover the roll with the aluminium foil with glue. To give the feel of the hold.
3.lay the tissue paper on the ground and crush them in the centre ane twist it to get this feel
4 place the tissue paper in the roll.
5. The olympic torch is ready.
6. Now your baby can run with the torch.

O is for Olympics

Fun alphabet craft is what I love to involve my daughter with. She being 18 months I don’t concentrate on teaching anything specific. I always go with the flow. She loves to squeeze the glue bottle now. So thought to use this skill in a positive way.  Following the bloggers I loved the activity called the letter of the week column. I really didn’t want to start teaching so early but just wanted to do something for the olympics so ended up in this activity.  Since I am new to this technique utilized the readymade printable from I can teach space

Materials Required

O is for olympics printable
Oogly eyes

1. Place the outline O on the counter table
2. Let the child squeeze the glue over the letter O if not help them.
3. Give your child handful of googly eyes and let them place and start their activity.

An 18 month Child with the help of her family can complete this task. We had a good family time while doing this task. To check about the host country facts please do click here

Luge Vs. Skeleton

I have a craze to this game as our country mate is a participant in this activity. The participant rides the flat sled while lying faceup and feet down. and in Skeleton the participant rides lying on the stomach on a ice route where everything is based on the speed and gravity. The participant has to complete the route in the shortest time.

To experiment on this we used the normal slide and tried to perform both luge and skeleton. Then our giraffee, bear all performed the task with us. Al hamdulilah we had a nice time with it.
